Cloudways

Cloudways is a multi-site provider: one API key lists every application on the account. After you connect the account, link each ConstellaWP site to the matching Cloudways app ({server_id}:{app_id}).

Prerequisites

  • A Cloudways account
  • Access to Account → API to create a key
  • ConstellaWP owner or admin

Steps

  1. In Cloudways, open Account → API, generate an API key, and keep the account email you use to sign in.

  2. In ConstellaWP, open Hosting, choose Cloudways, and set:

    • A display Name
    • Account Email
    • API Key
    • Save. ConstellaWP requests an access token from https://api.cloudways.com/api/v1 to verify the key.

  3. Open a site Settings → Hosting connector, select this Cloudways account, and pick the application that matches the site URL.

What you get after linking

  • List sites — applications on the account
  • Server backup — trigger a Cloudways server-side backup
  • Purge cache — purge the Cloudways cache for that app

WordPress backups to your own bucket still use BYOS.

Common errors

Authentication failed Wrong email, or the API key was rotated in Cloudways
Empty application list The key belongs to a different Cloudways account than the apps you expect
Site not linked You connected the account but did not pick a remote app on the site Settings page
